Sunday

Arrive on Sunday at Chateau de Matel

Guided visit of the Chateau

7.30pm Dinner at Chateau

 

 

Monday - Côte Roannaise & Bordeaux

Departure 9.15am Visit of medieval villages

"The Making of Wine", a class held at a Côte Roannaise vineyard.

Vigneron casse croute, visit some medieval villages on the way back.

 

6pm Bordeaux tasting

 Illustration of the main classic styles with wines from major chateaux: 

Pomerol ( Merlot ), Pauillac ( Cabernet Sauvignon ) and what many would consider to be the greatest white wine of all, Château d'Yquem (Thomas Jefferson was among the famous lovers of Château d'Yquem  ).     

 

Tuesday: A day in the Beaujolais

Beaujolais is one of France's best-known wines, but least-visited wine regions. Visit picturesque authentic wine villages of Beaujeu, Villié Morgon, Chiroubles et Fleurie

Tasting of different Cru du Beaujolais at Chateau du Thil XII Century.

A typical Beaujolais lunch with Odile & Patrick le Bourlay.

Visit of a goat cheese farm on the way back.

7.45pm Dinner at the Chateau

Wednesday: Champagne

9.30 am visit of Pilati Pastry/chocolate factory,  visit  of "Les halles Diderot" indoor market and Roanne City center.

12.30pm Champagne: Tasting and presentation :

Blanc de Blanc, Blanc de Noir, Billecart Salmon Brut, Billecart Rosé, Grande Cuvée.  "Is more expensive better ?"
 

Rest of the afternoon free

Dinner at Champlong Gastronomic Restaurant

Thursday: The Essence of Burgundy

Visit to the Chateau "Clos de Vougeot" and Burgundy Wine Road

Tasting and Lunch at a domaine.

2.30pm Visit to another domain in Ladoix Serigny, tasting top barrel-fermented and barrel-aged Burgundy whites and reds in the cellars with commentary by the owner.

Visit to Beaune

Return to Roanne

7.30pm Dinner at the chateau

Friday: A 3-star day !

 

Morning class on "How to buy wine", while tasting some little known wines.

Lunch at Troisgros restaurant  (Michelin 3-star restaurant) 

Delight your palate  with a 3-star lunch at world-famous Troisgros restaurant. 

We will comment on wines specially chosen in advance with the sommelier from the famed wine cellar of  60 000 bottles

 ( one of the leading wine cellars in the world according to the Wine Spectator).

 

Free afternoon

7.30pm Dinner at the Château


Saturday: Departure after Breakfast

Transportation by coach, organised by Ecole des Trois Ponts. Coach trip takes 1 and a half hours.

Possible from May till October. Price depends on number, please consult us.
